Non Stop 200 Earthquakes jolts Taiwan in less than 24 hours: No Casualties Reported 

Earthquakes of varying magnitudes shook Taiwan in less than 24 hours. These recurring quakes were causing buildings to sway and tilt. Government said that these are the aftershocks of the strong earthquake that shook the nation on April 3rd, 2024. Earthquake of magnitude 6.3 was the highest that was recorded.

Taiwan Earthquake Highlights 

• More than 200 earthquakes were being recorded from the evening of April 22 to the morning of April 23, 2024.

• Buildings were seen to be swaying and tilting in the country. 

• Government of the country has said that they were the aftershocks of a huge deadly wave that struck the country weeks ago.

• The strongest earthquake was measured at 2:30 am on April 23, 2024 of magnitude 6.3

• There were no casualties reported so far by the authorities.

More than 200 Earthquakes shook Taiwan

More than 200 Earthquakes shook Taiwan from the evening of April 22 at around 5pm till the morning of April 23 at around 10am. All the quakes originated from Hualien on the central east coast of Taiwan. Because of the location of Taiwan at the junction of two tectonic plates it is quite an earthquake prone area. A magnitude of 6.3 was recorded the highest.

Authorities reported it as Aftershocks 

Government authorities call it an aftershock of the earthquake that shook the country on April 3rd, 2024. Buildings were seen to be shaking, swaying and tilting and shocks were even felt 150 km north into the capital city Taipei. These aftershocks of earthquakes started happening on the evening of April 22 and made the entire night restless for the people in that region. On the morning of April 23, 2024 at around 8am a tremor of magnitude 5.8 was recorded.

No Casualties Reported

Amidst 200 earthquakes, no casualties have been reported so far by the authorities. Tremors were felt upto the capital city of Taipei still there were no casualties reported. Non-stop shaking, swaying and tilting of buildings were seen. A hotel building in Hualien was tilting at an angle after the quakes on Tuesday. 

Earthquake on 3rd April 2024 was the strongest in 25 years

The country has already witnessed the strongest Earthquake in 25 years weeks ago on 3rd April, 2024. The earthquake was a major 7.2 magnitude earthquake that took the lives of 9 people, more than 900 injured and 50 people were reported missing. The earthquake did massive damage as it caused landslides and 50 aftershocks followed after it.
