Asia University Rankings: Asia 2024 has recently been released by global higher education think-tank Quacquarelli Symonds, in which 148 universities from India have been included in the comprehensive list of total 856 universities in Asia.

What is QS World University Rankings?

The QS World University Rankings is released annually by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). This ranking evaluates the performance and quality of universities around the world. The methodology considers indicators such as academic reputation, faculty-student ratio, employer reputation , sustainability, employment outcomes, international research networks, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.

Under this, ranking is provided on the basis of subject, region, student city, business school and sustainability.

Top Ranking Universities:

Peking University (China) tops the list, followed by the University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong) and National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore.

Performance of Indian Universities:

IIT Bombay has retained its top ranking in India and is ranked 40th in Asia. 

Seven Indian institutions feature in Asia’s top 100, of which five are Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), along with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and Delhi University.

Now, the increasing visibility of Indian universities in international rankings reflects the expansion of India’s higher education landscape and its contribution to global research. This ranking has increased the performance and quality of the Indian Universities.
